You navigate beautiful panoramic 2D scenes to look for puzzles and clues associated with your photographer mother. The Star Named Eos - 2D narrative puzzle game. I also love the minimalist UI, because I think a lot of these games suffer from info overload. I really like the levels because it makes it a bit more interesting than just "prosper and grow" which is much of the genre. Which is good, because it makes it easier to figure out how to accomplish the scenario goals. Out of all the city builder demos I've played, I think this is the most simplified and streamlined. Outlanders - Chill city builder with lots of campaign levels. The description says it's based on the myth of Babel, which sounds interesting, and the aesthetic is beautiful, like playing a graphic novel. You can take down notes on what a glyph means, and when the game thinks you've seen it enough, you place it to a picture in your journal to validate the meaning. If you've played Heaven's Vault, the gameplay is quite similar, though this time you're trying to piece together a living language instead of a dead one. The writing is really good, as is the voice acting, and everything is voice acted! I didn't understand a lot of what was going on in the demo but I can't wait to learn more.Ĭhants of Sennaar - Adventure/puzzle game about deciphering language glyphs. You are a clone, investigating the memories of the ALLMOTHER, the last living human, and through that you can witness the world in both pre- and post-apocalypse. The gameplay is just exploring and interacting with things, but thematically, aesthetically. Once again, my personal top 3 above the cut.ġ000xRESIST - Sci-fi narrative adventure. read moreĪnother batch of 10 fun demos! There are way more games I like in this demo fest than any of the others, I think. Unfortunately I don't think you get to go to the titular Night Market in this demo, but it's a good preview of the other aspects of the game. at the stealth section but I still managed lol. The art style is just about the cutest thing ever, and I love the charming dialogue. Mineko's Night Market - Narrative adventure with crafting and social sim elements. I think it'd be really addictive in the full game, when you have tons of places to bounce between for quests and trading goods. The gameplay is quite simple, but fun even with the limited map in the demo. The art in this game is so pretty! And there's so much of it! Tons of little things all over the map to look at. Townseek - Comfy exploration and trading game. There are pauses that feel so natural, shifts in body language. I love the way the dialogue and sprites are done in this game, but it's hard to describe. I want to have the messiest relationships on our extremely haphazard quest to kill a tyrant. these people are a disaster waiting to happen and I want front row seats. From the character design to the personalities. I'll probably add on to this later as I play more!Īmarantus - Adventure visual novel with romance. The demo festival goes until Feb 13th at 10am pacific, after which some of these may no longer be available! I put my top 3 (so far.) above the cut, with the rest in no particular order.
